I say this a lot, but I do think its more common in manga these days, moving away from the distant or dead father archetype in old-school anime (Amuro and Tem in Gundam, Shinji and Gendo from Eva obviously) as well as the stupid dad archetype (Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin). Spy x Family has the super competent Loid as head of household, and the Demon Mother: My Son is So Cute manga has the father absent for most of the series, but its revealed hes been protecting his wife and son from the shadows, and when he finally returns to them hes a superdad who can do everything, ranging from cooking to changing diapers. Way of the Househusband also plays with this, while the protag osnt a father yet hes a super capable, well, househusband lol.
