Finally got around to the first chapter of this after picking up the first volume months ago - there's a nice write-up of the first few volumes in English
here if you're interested. It finished a couple of months ago in Young Jump, but doesn't seem to have made the grade for getting a simulpub (probably because of all the Ryuukyuu/Amami/Okinawa stuff). Hopefully it'll get picked up soon now that it's finished, but I'm not sure how much of an English-language market there is for tiny people stabbing crows with scissor blades in amongst helpful biological lessons about sea cucumber anuses (as per one of the last posts on the manga's official Twitter).
This is a series where I admire things about it more than I actually love the series itself; it's a great premise, all the ecological details are interesting (as someone who knows next to nothing about the culture or environment of Ryuukyuu), and Minosuke's art is both weird and excellent (there are some GREAT animals later in the series!). I'm not a big fan, however, of the slightly simplistic characterisations at this early stage.
