100% agree and I think the next couple of chapters will be a really interesting "make or break" depending on how this situation is handled. As much as Sorata can apologize for what just happened, it won't go anywhere unless Miyuki speaks up or, atleast clear this up a bit. This definitely needed to happen to move things along and I hope it does result in progress.

my prediction is that they'll each go to their respective friends who are part of the group in Kyoto, and each will get some version of "advice" from them on whether any of this is fixable, and how to go about it. Probably a lot of "wow Sorata's an asshole" type stuff on Blondie's part at the beginning, and PrettyBoy will commiserate with Sorata as he's been pretty empathetic the whole way through the story, thus far. But eventually--hopefully--something constructive will be mentioned, and Miyuki & Sorata will be pushed by the other two into meeting up and talking things out.
And maybe even arbitrate, to ensure that they talk things out and Miyuki doesn't default to her Kyotoisms and Sorata doesn't just shut down and beat himself up.

But what really needs to happen is a conversation/showdown between Miyuki and Ayano, because that is where the majority of Sorata's woes originate. But at this point--and as much as I dislike thinking of relationships in this way--"the ball is in Miyuki's court" to make sense of what Sorata's just told her, seemingly out of the blue from her perspective, and what Ayano has to do with it.

Sorata's done a lot of 'reaching across the aisle' this whole story. So it's time for Miyuki to step up and out of her comfort zone and reach out to him.

He's prioritzing her happiness over his, "I want you to do what's best for you" because he doesn't understand those are the same thing to her. He realized too late how what he said might come across.

Well-said. "I've decided to be noble and self-sacrificing and do what's best for you and prioritize your happiness over mine, and it hasn't occurred to me that being with me makes you happy which is what's best for you."

Being noble and self-sacrificing is good, but it's too easy for it to lose focus… at which point, it actually becomes more about satisfying one's own ego than the true needs of the person being 'sacrificed' for.

Not sure why you're calling Sorata a fucking idiot.

He's not the one who has been incapable of speaking their actual feelings to their fiancee this entire time.
That would be Miyuki.
And even here, she could have pushed back. But did she? No. She just said "okay then" and walked away.
Sorata has been under the impression that everyone around him thinks he and Miyuki are a terrible match and that she's wasting her potential because of him.
Even those middle school friends of hers that they met at the diner a couple chapters back said as much when they found out what school she was attending in Tokyo, and when they found out that Sorata was her fiancee.

Do you just not read the manga chapter by chapter? You're not the first person I've seen try and lay the blame entirely at Sorata's feet, and I'm just really confused as to how you seem to have missed the mark so badly on the actual dynamic between the main pair of this series.

It's just how manga communities work, they tend to focus all of their frustration on the male lead xD

I think it's also been made clear in this chapter that Miyuki had some idea of what Ayano was doing to Sorata. She is not as oblivious of it as we thought. The ball is indeed really in her court. I dont even think that Sorata is to blame for telling her that he is worried about her forfeiting her future choices by going to this school. Any considerate partner would voice such a concern. I think that her cold reaction is simply her inability to be vulnerable with him and not knowing how tho express herself so she runs away behind that mask of hers.

With all of Miyuki's silence towards any comments to their relationship always sounding like confirmation of obligation & Sorata's continued conditioning that that may be the case... The premise of the story is rising itself to the drama it needed to address and all I can do is pray that follows it a moment where they communicate and realize their mistakes!!!

Give me the beautiful resolve that a drama builds itself up to! Don't fuck it up!! Gosh I wish I was reading it when this whole arc was already made cause I can't take weekly updates on drama!!! AHHHHHHH

And I'd argue that if she were aware, that would honestly be worse. Because then she'd be aware that Ayano has effectively been poisoning their relationship for years, and she would effectively have chosen to do nothing about it.
Which, after all the seeming inaction on her part to confront those at their school who badmouth Sorata, would be another indictment against her.

Sorata claims he has been fighting windmills? If it were, the ref would have stopped it, since the windmill has eviscerated Sorata.
Look at it one of two ways, Miyuki has caused this because of not admitting to how she feels... OR, Sorata is just a spineless wimp with zero self-confidence...
Is his lack of self-confidence down to her? I doubt it, since they have hardly seen each other over the years. This is his nature. There doesn't appear to be any evidence of bullying or abuse, so he is just a soft-hearted, affable and timid person. Look how he is drawn, he is just genetically timid and wimpy. Sure, if she had oozed affection and devotion, he might be more confident, but as it is, I think both of them are just being natural to their upbringings, and this story, while possibly meant as humorous in Japan, just comes across as aggravating to some of us in the West. Some people just seem to feel that love needs a drawn-out and painful gestation. They are welcome to their sick and deranged ideas, while I prefer a bit more sweetness and genuine affection. But who am I to argue with a country with an extinction-level birth rate?

I dont think she knows everything but her mind went to the idea that her brother had said something immediately after Sorata expressed his concern. She does seem to be able to identify that Sorata's insecurity is caused by Ayano so it feels like she must have seen it in the past, too. But yeah, I dont think she is entirely aware, that would be quite bad.

Lets see,

You guys remember that Miyuki doesnt wear the ring (Sorata doesnt know the reason) + Sorata confessed but simply got rejected (because of her dialect), right?

So, from those two points Sorata has very high doubts about Miyuki's feelings. Sure she is not hostile, but in Sorata's eyes she most likely doesnt bear any romantic feelings towards him as well, and probably trying to fulfill her grandpa's will.


So basically, Our boy thinks the girl doesnt like him (and has solid reasons for that)
and the girl can receive better education in different school

Do you guys think he has a selfish personality enough to stop her, despite thinking she doesnt like him back? Purely because of his feelings?


I have absolutely no idea why do you guys mock Sorata for this chapter, if anything I'd say he did the right thing from his perspective because she thinks Miyuki isnt in love with him and doesnt want to bring her down to a lower level simply because of her grandpa's wish. If only Miyuki also confessed in the first chapter, simply saying "I love you too" my bro wouldnt have this much issues.
