Huh... were it not for the dialogue, there would be no indication that she time-traveled from the past into the current day, I wonder if that will end up relevant at all as the story goes forwards.

Then again, this is a chapter zero, maybe chapter 1 will actually dig into that some more.

If i remember right, this is from the novel(Night Tide) after the novel(Pat Me Please) where she time-traveled into modern times. So most of the details are in the other one, this is the novel where it took off after that ending. So she is still accumulating to this time as she builds a relationship. She does bring up some details later.

I read the novel and also caught up to the raws -- there's enough context that you don't necessarily need to read the first two books or the first manhua to pick up on stuff. but also, Pat Me Please was translated (and can be found elsewhere), it was just removed from MangaDex I believe.

Personally reading the original and the third continuation and I think Night Tide is my favorite in the quartet. Each of the 4 books center on a different couple (although 2 books are actually centered on 1 particular couple). Night Tide is the story of Xiang Wan and Chao Xin and is my favorite couple

Ah yes, casual normalization of child abuse by the kid's primary caretaker giggling at the child's grievances with their tutor including a plastic ruler to beat the back of her hand. Not the most serious kind of child abuse, but still not okay.
