To her defense spiciness is not a sense of taste, but just the feeling of temperature and pain, so you have to be a masochist to like spicy food.

I'm sorry but Spiciness actually allows me to savour taste as usually it's hard for me to "taste" stuff.

Dunno why that's the case... the spicier the food, the more I get to taste flavours more. It's not masochism... it's just basic necessity for me....

I'm guessing that in this world and taking notes from our own culinary history, the chili spice and inadvertently the flavour of spicy, is not a thing yet. Historically, there was a point in time that chilis were used as a form of poison or treated as one because of said-heat and numbing effect.

And judging by how nobles ate, I'd imagine the princess was never allowed to eat 'flavourful' food due to their lighter taste and food that had always gone cold, according to poison prevention, thus affecting the taste of the food- which I'd imagine Shuri may be enlightening her in the next chapters.

It may be just me, but I felt that Azuma Shuri is kind of arrogant in his vibes and attitude. I am not sure why, but he seems that he made many assumptions and didn't think through. Only reasons for him survive are he's actual decent chef, but also have allies to protect him from troubles. At first, I am enjoying this manga, but latest chapters, I am not sure...

If he pulled this stunt in IRL medieval age, then his head will be chop off immediately.

Problem with this: Gungrave have his dream to establish his kingdom. His mercenary corp are supporting him, that including Shuri. That means they will be dragging into some of the political world.

It's almost impossible to avoiding that, unless they are too OP, which they aren't that.
