Sorry this took so long. I'll be straight up, I started playing Heaven Burns Red and kinda hyper-focused on it for 2 weeks. Then, when I finished the available content and was ready to start working on this, family I haven't seen in years visited for a couple weeks.

All distractions are gone now though. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things.

At first, I thought her stepfather looked like he was on some kind of drugs. But then I remembered we're talking about manga, where being ordinary means you're a throwaway NPC. But seriously, I like that the author is trying to be diverse instead of jumping into the immature "rock is super cool, all other music is shitty pop!" mode.

Was almost worried the dad would turn around and be toxic in a different fashion.
But he truly just loves Lilisa's mom...and while I hope that he finds balance with Alice in the future, at least she has her onee-chan.

Lilisa killed it this time around. The perfect plan to both spend time with Alice and build rapport with her, but also to help alleviate some of the pain and hardship upon her as she continues to adjust to this new dynamic with Lilisa and Yuka in her life.
I'm very glad Alice has been given a chance to shine in this series instead of being a one-note side character. I don't expect her to join their band (maybe in a managerial capacity or some other backend role?), but having her be front and center and present & active in Lilisa's life is a great move on the author's part.

I hope she gets to connect with her father, eventually - and that the two of them can save their parents' marriage from the asshole companymen.

I imagine that his obsession is because of how hard he was hit by the loss of the first wife. Putting him in the same boat as his daughter.

Well, my expectations were partially subverted. Knew the performance for the dad wasn't going to go well and he'd end up not hearing it by brushing her off. Expected him to love his wife. Was not expecting him to straight up admit to Lilisa that he's 110% on board with her getting that title for the purpose of improving her mom's social standings / to protect her.

Though...her mom and stepdad hitting it off all the way back in school is making me wonder if he was in any way connected with Lilisa's bio dad leaving the family.
