Yeah, it wasn't until the MC saw the beastkin maid and was surprised that people with animal ears exist that I realized that the characters didn't know their companion was a beastkin. I thought the ear hat was just normal fashion for beastkin.

REALLY like the character designs and this adaptation's artstyle. also refreshing that ALL of the dude's party members are genuinely good and selfless ppl with seemingly no hidden agendas - the princess chick seemed kinda nasty, but she just warned him that he'd be executed anyway if they found out he was a fake hero. so that's not her fault.

If you already hate the princess for how she acts wait until volume 2 of the novel to be adapted because even though what happens isn't her fault it will make you hate her even more.
