A bit of family lore for Karen opens up the setting.
We know she inherited the house from her grandmother, and that it "holds a lot of memories" (from chapter 1)...so I'm wondering if she ended up living there after her mother's death, due to her father not being able to look after her, or something? Yes, she spent a lot of time away from home in general & in the company of Kazukage, but there's still a few question marks regarding Karen's history on that front.
(They're not necessarily pertinent to the plot or their character arcs, but it's more idle curiosity as to what she was up to when Kazukage wasn't around, both in childhood and when he had gone off and gotten married for a time. Could help flesh her out a bit more and give further context to why she's this invested in getting Kazukage back into her life in a permanent fashion.)
But, I appreciate how direct she was. I think Kazukage needs that sort of no-nonsense methodology more than anything right now; he's still obviously reeling from his divorce, and likely doesn't have much in the way of self-confidence or a sense of self-worth. So he'll be deprecating and hard on himself and seek to push others away "for their own benefit", which means Karen will have to be blunt, and direct, and forceful to ensure he doesn't run off on her (again, thinking he's doing her a favor). It's still quite early in the series, so I'm not expecting much headway in his mental & emotional state.
But I'm glad that Karen is getting ahead of things by stating her desires and intentions so matter-of-fact like. (Even if she's not professing her love just yet, which I also wouldn't expect at this point in time.)
Thanks for the TL.
