Then they will start seeing you as the true hero and smile when you help them especially compared to a "hero" who skips the fight and has done nothing the whole time. All that would accomplish is making them fear her even more. Whether you like it or not, the hero has saved a lot of people even if his heavy bias against magical girls is currently clouding his judgment. Killing him does next to nothing to help them. In fact, since the demons are actively looking to kill the hero and king, Haruhi would just be helping the enemy.

The townspeople hate magical girls because every single magical girl they have seen before caused a massacre. They're not so quick to trust her because they've been burned before. Haruhi would want them to follow her because they trust her, not because they're terrified of her.

So I guess the Magical Girl in this series are basically being tested in their conviction or magnified their desire, which either corrupt them with Malice infused magical power, or idk what happen if they managed to stay strong on it.

For all it worth, the corruption on Kushishi seems to at least be partially cleansed or she's still not that deep yet.

Sir Brave is such an idiot though, do we have a number of Magical Girls that already appeared aside from one in his flashback, Kushishi, and Haruna? Pretty dumb of him to judge "every Magical Girl is bad" when he only met one during his childhood, I guess that's what trauma does for you

Haruna's interesting, as she's by all appearances actually a genuine sociopath but decides to be a hero like Grimmer from Monster.

That's the difference between heroes. Would you save the world even if it hated you for it? How far would you go? It's an interesting question.

Also WHERE'S THEIR DAMN MASCOT!!! Like surely if 2 of the 3 magical girls are there the rabbit guy has to be looking everywhere for them, it'd be a cool thing that the other magical girl(ruka) is working with their mascot to find the two. Maybe once the rabbit guy finds shuri they'll revoke her magical girl powers after finding out she's being evil.

Also my tinfoil hat theory is that the one who the Hero saw back then is Haruna predecessor given the silhouette kinda matching what we saw on the first chapter.

haruna is probably the only one who's "fine", her magical girl principles are so rigidly self-recursive given those last two panels that she's practically anti-corruptive. the other two probably fell because theyre "sane" and were responding to the situation like a human instead.

I don't think so because she's probably already dead. Haruna picked up her transformation piece thing in a flashback and uses it for her own transformations.
...actually looking at it again, the silhouette does have the same flower petal shape
