As a heads up and since I'm autistic I feel that I must explain, the "huge cancellation fee" meanwhile true doesn't make sense in this context: the cancelation fee is always less than the full thing so wanting to "bail this out" is meaningless or else we'd have people simply not showing up at the hotel; what's more, changing reservation to another name has another fee (in Europe it tends to be around 50€ per person).
