Yep, competition's a good thing. Otherwise you'd get scan groups just squatting on manga for ages, releasing chapters whenever they feel like it. Sure, life happens, but when it takes months to update even a fraction of a chapter, why not let another group take a shot at translating it?

sadly this happens way too often…

Cause it’s shit etiquette and frowned upon by the translation community. There’s a reason why people hate snipers and it’s cause they typically cause the original translation group to drop the series completely. Then the sniper will drop the series after going piss poor effort to translate the series. There should only be one group per series translating said series as it’s a waste of effort and resources to have multiple groups working on the same series

It doesn’t matter whether that’s true or not. It’s bad etiquette to work on a series other groups are actively working on. If it’s been more than 3 months since the previous release though then it’s understood that a series is free game. Though the only time the three month rule isn’t valid is if a group has been working on a series for years or if it took awhile for the raws to update. It’s hugely frowned upon to try to steal a series that is obviously a particular group’s project

If the entire thing is behind a wall then sure. If they’re releasing chapters after a certain amount of time then I don’t see an issue with someone wanting to get paid for their work. Most groups don’t do the paywall thing though so not really a thing to care about

Yes and? There’s a million manga series on this site you can read between releases. Not anyone’s fault you can’t be patient.

Btw If you think waiting months between releases is unbearable then I pity you if you learned how long it took for us to go from volume 10 of skeleton knight to volume 11 (it’s 4 years) or Death Mage to go from volume 6 to volume 7 (two years for this one). Waiting months between chapters isn’t a big deal
