I really love the dreamlike way they explored all these deep lore questions, especially Riku's blobby half-recalled faces. Ngl the actual mysteries and such are a bit beyond my speculation but I will say the general structure of the Abyss seems a lot like a black hole to me, with the absolute limit around the edge where they think Riku's mom might be waiting being like the firewall, and the hourglass-esque structure being like the jets off of a quasar. Whether this is a coincidence or a deliberate evoking or a hint at the mechanics of the abyss, I have no idea, but it was very striking to me.

All that + some really beautiful moments of determination near the end + some totally unabashed fetish art, this series truly is godly.

Just some speculation, I put it in spoilers as some might be offended by its nature.. If the crater is the vulva, the abyss is the vagina, the bottom of the abyss is the uterus, the egg-like thing they're heading to is the ovum, the 2000 thousand years thing is periods, and our cute little explorers are the sperm cells, then the author has created some hell of an allegory..

Nanachi made/found something that was intended for Riko's use and keep it in the bottom of the bag, the manga dosent explain wath is it, but Reg feeling "some wriggling around" is making people think she cut her legs, which dosent make that much sense to me with how Nanachis recovery was working.
I could be wrong but possibly she made/found a relic that was one unique use that could recover any wound in a similar way the cube that was use to carry Riko's body when she was stillborn. Yatarmar (the tall man) is very concerned about how well Nanachi has recovered even when he said that even after 30hrs she would need absolute rest (and possible implied she would be in the same state she was at the star of the chapter), so probably she has shortened her lifespan or is now fused to the relic

I'm curious, if Riko was stillborn and made alive due to a relic... would she be considered dead enough to enter the netherworld (bottom of the abyss)?

Also is Prushka implying Mitty(?) is Nanachi's white whistle? Is this a good or a bad thing bc Nanachi tried her hardest to make Mitty rest in peace for good?

Why is this works so well?
And you did not even used the ace, "time dilation"
As same as when you approach black hole its gravitational pull makes the time dilation bigger,
the more you approach the deepest layer of the Abyss, the time dilation get also bigger.
