I love how this story went from romance w/ a side of weird to a crackhead's fantasy w/ a side of romance.

Yeah, we used to just wonder why they weren't dating yet. Such simple times, we were so naive back then...

Yuuka is a savant under pressure from her upbringing and her sister's shadow to be the best at everything. She tries to learn how to be better at things by observing other people. Unfortunately she decided Hajime is better than her at living life, so she's been trying to learn from him how to be weird. Also it gave her a crush on him. That's why Mitsuishi-san is Being Weird This Year.

Hajime is just all sorts of messed up, possibly because he apparently witnessed his mother murder his father.

and all of this is layered behind exaggerating reality so the reader isn't sure what is hyperbole and what is actually happening in the manga, both for comedic effect, and for lore uncertainty.

I'm pretty sure the manga will make a lot more sense once volume 5 and 6 comes out. Since there's lots of incomplete foreshadowing still.
