This series went from 2024/1/9 to 2026/3/9. A series does not last that long (and wrap up its storyline that conclusively) while getting axed right at the end. Furthermore, Syosetu shows that the story ends basically after this point anyways; there was a bit of a timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly flip-flop before it got to this point, after the Fairy Dragon, but it ultimately ends up in a time loop that resets everything that happened during it to just result in this endpoint anyways.

I've seen series with over 70 chapters get axed.

doesn't exactly feel like an axe to me, but the ending is quite mediocre. might be a case of "get people interested in original material" but i'm just not curious enough. been a decently fun ride, mc overcoming some issues and his childhood friend going through a good redemption arc. the story was pretty consistent and the art was always pretty good.
