When you see people questioning yuri in MDex comments, either they'll be obvious that they're wondering if it's really gay or not or they'll be extrmely rude about it. If it's not one of those, it's probably not serious and they're being sarcastic. 99.9% chance that guy is being sarcastic...

At the same time - Ben explaining it for third-party people who might otherwise be coming along who don't already know the details they provided, is beneficial. And that's independent of whether or not the original person was being sarcastic or not.

Because sarcastic vapid comments or not, it's nice having information like publishing info explicitly provided in places like the comment section, as it's not always immediately apparent for everyone who might be interested in those details, who also might not know where to look.

So harping on them for "missing subtext" in a derisive manner isn't exactly doing anything helpful, either.

If the latter, I can tell you that poly endings are so rare in manga that no one expects them. But often it seems like it would be a resolution that would be the most satisfying and leave the greatest number of characters happy, so people hope it will end that way, even if it's unlikely.

I don't see anything wrong with that. People speculate about where stories will go all the time. And given the extreme paucity of poly endings in manga, as evidently few authors have the guts to stick with a non-traditional outcome, there's a lot more of a desire for such endings than has actually been fulfilled. Basically people are hungry for the unmet need.

If there were a bunch of poly romance manga out there and you had people flipping their shit about monogamous stories not also going down that route, then you'd have a leg to stand on with your complaints. But that's not what's happening.

So, that sounds like a reasonable position. But I'd like you to go back to your first post on this thread, here, and consider whether what you were replying to (which states "why can't they just poly together") fits your description of a post that "they need a poly ending as if it's necessary".

Because I don't believe it does. It seems like someone just saying that kind of ending would make the characters happy and the poster wishes for that. They didn't say anything like "this needs a poly ending to be any good" or something like that.

As a result, your reaction comes across as over the top and mean-sprited. Beyond that, even though it wasn't justified here, you used it as an opportunity to insult a whole class of people.

I think you're someone capable of being reasonable, so I just hope you reflect on it a bit and can be a bit better at letting people express the feelings they have about fiction.
