That's just misogyny.Ill agree that he wasn't cucked but the similar sentiment is still there.
He quite literally is a substitute for another man in the final scene.
What a chocker, men and women are different wow. Like it or not she will always compare him to her dead husband, thats just how women are. Specially since she is still grieving him. While a man will just be content with what he has, this isnt a scenario where swapping the sexes works well
"Women and men are different" in a lot of ways, but you cannot tell me that no man would behave in the manner Tsubaki is, because grief and projection are in no way linked to gender.
Tsubaki is drunk after going to her husband's grave and running into/being accosted & then rejected by his sister. She's stressed, hurt, in need of an escape, and turned to the numbing comfort of alcohol, and then the person she is close to and has reconnected with from years before.
She's in a vulnerable state and not thinking clearly, and the emotional turmoil & alcohol has her acting rashly in the moment.
But that isn't her using him or turning him into a substitute for her dead husband, in the way that some insist on insinuating.
Yes, she's in a vulnerable state and Otakei's back sparked a memory of riding on the back of that motorcycle. That sort of association happens all the time in all manner of ways, and Tsubaki being drunk means she'll act impulsively in such an emotionally charged situation. Shs's not intentionally trying to use Otakei, nor is she looking to "replace" her husband.
Because Otakei and her husband are different people, and represent different things to Otakei specifically. Talking about him being some sort of "spare" just sounds like people haven't experienced enough life to know that having more than one relationship, or different kinds of relationships at different points, is actually a thing.
