I can't tell tbh. It had all the makings to be as popular as Jinsei Gyakuten but then it felt like the mangaka adaptation was too afraid to show what made the WN popular so what was the point of even trying making an adaptation???

I strongely recommend to read this piece that might explain why the manga publisher fucked it up.

Lol 😆 it was both! It is a web novel. And had a manga adaptation that got cancelled. Meaning it was axed. From what I read. The web novel is darker with dark humor. Maybe the people publishing the manga were to afraid to adapt it entirely. So the poor manga author had to shorten it and get rid of a lot of the dark humor.

It wasn't axed, I went to check the WN. This is actually just part 1 of the story, there is a 2nd part with a bit of a different name where it focuses on MC and FMC being a couple. To bad it wasn't adapted...

There are a few differences that i noticed, like a side plot with FMCs mom that got completely cut, and there is a bit more humor (last chapter is a good example) that wasn't in the WN.

I mean, things are rough for MC, but the girl is yandere enough I kind of get why Iketani would want to get away from her. I don't think anything good can come out of getting entangled with her, but revenge demands sacrifice I suppose.
