You never know, it could get a way more fleshed out story then trying to rush a Fumi route right before the ending. Specially if the manga can pick itself up outta the giant hole it dug.

The playboy ends up in some sort of scandal involving his promiscuity and his looks have clearly left him far behind.

One of the few NTR stories that have actual consequences for the perpetrators and with the MC the one coming out "smelling like a rose" in the end.

If GraPara ends in a similar way, I think I'd be OK with that, but, again given the author's history...yeah...😓

Those are certainly some parallels, if we want to bet on Airi remembering what they said in the interview than GraPara! probably won't follow this exact blueprint, for one there's no way Shinobu will ever forget Sakura. I wouldn't say no to a scenario where fuckboi is outed as a cheater himself. Shinobu right now already looking like he'll be fine either way.

Hard to think who would've really helped him out though because outside of the childhood friend's one emotional outburst everyone seems to have their own lives to worry about and carried on a bit indiffierently for months, heck he only opened up to Fumi about it after it was established that they need to work together for this upcoming movie and she brought it up.

Actually, people have been speculating that Kodansha is on bad terms with Katsura Airi, and while I don't personally buy into that theory, I also can't completely rule it out. The real answer will come once Grapara eventually ends.

Like, if Grapara announces its ending soon but Kodansha gives her another serialization right away or a few months later, that'd mean their relationship wasn't nearly as bad as people think and the axe came down to something else, but if Grapara ends and she moves to another publisher (and I don't mean a lateral move like going from Mangapoke to Yanmaga) or goes indie, then I'd be pretty convinced there were problems behind closed doors by the time Grapara ended.

Actually I think I'm more curious about the meta than the story itself.

Will Katsura Airi say fuck it, goes full doujin and goes back to shaking sweaty otaku's hands in a Comiket stand?
Will Kodansha keeps her on but she's only allowed to do non-cuck manga with, at most, Netori MC or Slut FMC?
Will she make a golden ending with Shinobu W's and Sakura L's (to which the netobros will cry sellout)?

Yep, pretty much, and the numbers go against it.
Vol 9 announced 600K copies total, and Vol 11 announced 750K:
That's 150K over two vols (9 + 10), which isn't, like, ultra popular, but it's still a healthy number that no publisher would axe a series over, much less Kodansha lmao (yes, I'm still, once again, angry about ヤンキーＪＫの異常な愛情). Obviously, some of that could've come from older volumes continuing to sell, but those are usually the minority.

On top of that, this series loves to GLOAT every time it hits #1 on one of the digital big boys, which is exactly what they did with vol 12's Obi, which was all about how they hit #1 on the DMM daily manga ranking (on top of the live-action streaming + some collab thingie).

So at the very least, ranking highly on digital platforms seems to be important for this series.

BUT, bad blood between a publisher and a mangaka can take many forms, so you can never completely rule it out.

Well if they were south Koreans with my experience with the ntr in secret class yes I would say someone would most certainly get hurt but very unlikely in Japan.
