I think the adaptation to manga let them foreshadow a few things earlier. That giant floor really is terrifying when you're the one who has to pioneer it.

I feel like "food monsters" would be appropriate, as well as edible plants, or even "merchants".
The former is to establish an ecosystem, where you both get food and "beautification effects" (maybe even healing, a-la elixers),
The latter is to establish a mid-floor resting spot, that can turn into a full frontier town.

I.E: People move into the dungeon, which means even MORE people in the dungeon at once -> persistent passive income -> it encourages people to explore even deeper floors -> profit.
I mean, it's quite literally free realestate. :u

i feel like that floor is planned to be a "checkpoint" for the human to build a civilization, if the knight can easily kill the monster, only routine clean up is required to make it a safe place

She is one of the most important and recurring characters in the story, the first floor water was able to fix the most extensive damage from the illness, but acne, scars, living when hiding herself and without exercise require other floors water.
The mana/miasma in the dungeon boosts the effects of the water, it is possible to bring water from a lower floor to the first and it still keeps the original effect, but much weaker, the first floor water can be brought out and it keeps the effect, not return to normal water like the other floors, but is still a bit weaker, as she said the dungeon tempts peopel to explore it.

Not really a spoiler, she said how the water is less powerful outside the dungeon, I simply made a bit more clear how that is true and it covers the other floors,
Saying she returns often doesn't spoil her role, as even the main exploration knight team and the queen do so, same for how her skin wasn't fixed on the first floor, simply explaining the other problems she got and how the floors we already know would help her with them too.

Imagine if he made a hot spring resort city somewhere in that vast area that people would never want to leave from.

He could designate monster spawn points so monsters don't randomly spawn everywhere (if that's a thing) making the people want to spend more time without feeling like they're at risk.

Maybe even implement a form of the never starve dungeon, one that rises in quality and maybe produces different effects instead of just staving off hunger.

Him ignoring the monster creation aspect is kinda weird for a dungeon fic. Really, I think it's dumb to not want to make interesting creatures, like couldn't he make monsters that are beneficial to his hot spring dungeon?

He's supposed to be human but he's doing the same thing as most other dungeons that focus on one effective thing and keep churning those out.

Actually I wonder if that gem dungeon was committed to trial and error. Watching what kind of gem an delver gets happy about and reproducing those, experimenting on other things and learning. With enough experience even these clueless dungeons could find out that gems with a nice geometry is good.

Meanwhile, MC's dungeon was too inexperienced and focused on the killing aspect of the dungeon for instant points instead of what brings in more delvers, so she probably didn't think to improve the food quality.

Of course the next step is building a settlement, first an expedition, second a settlement, third a small city, that have to defend of the monster all the time, so permanent miasma for the dungeon, if is going to get treated as an mining post, is going to be place to eat and rest, to keep going down no?
