He has various bonuses to his drop rate and drop amount, which is why he has so much mythril in the first place. Basically, if he mines a square meter of dirt, he gets at least twice that back, just as dirt, much less random minerals and gems. He could essentially mine the wastelands (which he'll do later) and get a positive return on his effort.

It is insane how many Isekai just normalises how automation capitalism impacts work.
