😇 The difference between body mass and strength by sex is largely statistical. What Kei-chan said is really dumb. I can't imagine there being that much of a strength difference given how little they changed when becoming a girl. In general, trending differences by sex in a population is useless in evaluating an individual person's capabilities.
😈 That the author is a woman and a famous mangaka at that does kind of blunt my negativity here. She's written various works for young girls that has accomplished things like prepare them for menstruation etc. That she's also an older woman in a country that isn't racially diverse -- Asian genes CAN make for some rather tiny women on average -- I'm inclined to overlook this one.

Maybe Kei just THINKS they are much stronger as male and got an emotional powerup instead of an actual physical one. As in they could have done the same in the female body but just juvenile stupidity held them back.
Still dumb but it makes sense for the character I guess.
Was about to say, this way it would make some sense, it's just a morale boost for him, because he thinks he is stronger as a boy.
Probably not what the author intended, but eh.

That is the most gracious I can be, because it's the same sort of logic that allows mothers to lift cars off their children and whatnot. Physical capacity goes out the window the moment there's an extreme-enough need for it, and then it doesn't matter who you are, your body will suspend the laws of physics to make it happen.
It's not "that Uesugi's a girl therefore Uesugi is weak", it's "Uesugi thinks girls are weak, therefore Girl Uesugi is weak". And while I still think the stereotype is silly and wholly unnecessary as an abstraction, it would at least be consistent with how turned-around Uesugi is with the whole gender fiasco they've been forced into.

Why are people arguing about the difference between boy and girl here is unreal? He literally said his stats are increased and recovered (in the Jp ver as well) after being severely exhausted because of those waves.
He might meant it less literally but this way seems more convinient.
GB authors usually over exaggerate the strength difference but I doubt such experienced author like Yabuuchi Yuu would make this kind of mistake in this field.
