This manga is great at creating uniquely chilling and disgusting juxtapositions. First with Sorghaghtani espousing virtuous pro-knowledge pro-human rhetoric over a book that cities fell to procure, and now with Ogedei using happiness as a THREAT. it's hard to know how to feel. Very well done.

The funny part is that Ogedei's explanation is closer to the Heliocentric model we used today but Fatima is obviously not in a mood for a debate.

It's obviously that their mindsets are too alien to ever reach a form of agreement.

Ogedei follows Genghis Khan's belief in unity above all. Before Genghis united Mongolia, it was weak and divided were tribes hostile to one another and easy prey to Jin Dynasty of China's foreign policy of playing one tribe off and Genghis created a meritocratic society, tightly united under their unshakable loyalty to the Great Khan of Mongolia.

Ogudei only saw the future while Fatima and Toregene was stuck in the past and the Merkit tribe in Toregene's backstory represent their beliefs quite well.

IIRC scientific consensus within the Old World at the time leaned towards geocentrism.

It wouldn't be until after Copernicus and the proof of the stellar parallax that heliocentrism would finally be accepted.

I am still surprised that the Tengrist Mongol model of the universe was somehow closer to the modern heliocentric model than similar ones at the time.
