Hitoshi did mention his ship is stay up above the planet still, could be some hidden directive on the ship.
Edit: just reread through the series again but in chapter 5, he did mention "Haruko", probably an AI assist so i do wonder if the system was set up so they will come for him or to attack the new planet with those smart suit in someway.

It could be either the AI thinking that it's better to be prepared than to be caught off-guard, especially with how Hitoshi was confined, or there might have been secret orders that Hitoshi wasn't told about.

I think they're talking about a hostile alien race which is what facilitated the humans to leave their planet in the first place.

Unlikely, considering how advanced the human civilization is, if it was that level of threat it's pretty much extinction for the animal civ. It's either a known invader type that's annoying to deal with or the whoever is on the ship Ai or someone that's started some plan. Our guy is definitely hiding something about the human civ.

Sure sounds like it. With the level of kemo tech being what it is, them misidentifying some drone in such a weird way seems plausible. The questionable part is them being an "army" IMO. Someone going on a single-man suicide exploration mission wouldn't really need an army. But he sure could use, say, menial workers to set up a base if whatever world he lands on happens to be without intelligent life.

could be the second, this is not the first time he is in trouble after all, like back in chapter 2, because the Lion guy try to get rid of Hitoshi, he also got confined and even offer no food.
he was a lot more trouble back then compare to now.

Imperium in 41st Millennium? Marked for extermination for sure.
