The success of this story will depend on how endearing they make the FL and if the MC will cease being pathetic or not... else this will just fall flat on its face; 50/50 so far

Hopefully the mc is actually a good swordman just can't use the family sword aura if the sparring scene tell us.

I really hope its a single volume promo of the novel, theres barely any detail in either the characters or the background outside of the usual tropes of this genre

The title was a bit confusing. It made it seem like the MC was beefing with like her brother or something. This doesn't even really seem like the houses don't get along (his dad just straight up said that they are the weaker house). And that the pacing and dialogue of that flashback was painful, but otherwise this seems fine. A fairly interesting setup of the MC being able to absorb magic somehow. Ironically the dad is about to lose the only potential threat he had to the magic superpower family.

I really didn't like how the first few pages were just exposition through awkward dialogue.

And the father is being used as a blatant tool that explicitly says "that family is really scary, our family is no match for them," leading to a very obvious set up for potential drama. One that's been solved even before the story truly begins.

Overall it's okay, I guess. The romance gets established immediately, the MC's actual ability is shown and the future plot points and problems have been set.

This sounds like a reverse gender Duke of the North story

Feels like the dad isn't an asshole, but the brother is,

It's funny how the brother looks like a Shojo MC and the MC looks like a battle shonen MC

Anyway, his father seems decent. Doesn't treat Nova terribly.
I picked up on that too. I also caught that the brother seems to have an inferiority complex towards Nova, he's clearly older, should have more training, and can use Blade Aura, but was being pushed back and even injured before using Blade Aura. Which leads me to believe that Nova is a prodigy with a sword that made his older brothers jealous and they're using his inability to use Blade Aura to trample his self-esteem since they can't beat him in raw talent with the sword.

Haven't read the WN, just speculating. I could be wildly off base though

Thank you for the chapter!

Minor grammatical point on page 36 pannel 1: his thought is a contrafactual, so it needs the subjunctive. ("It would have been better if I were never born.")

In the synopsis: the families are called Fors and Arkgate.
In the scanlation: the families are called Forse and Arkwright.
I feel like we’re in for a great translation…
:kek:

Failure this, failure that. Can authors not come up with something unique anymore?
How are Japanese losers to self-insert without some toxic Asian family dynamics?

nice pure love from the start n mc actually grinded out real sword skill while having a presumably nullify skill which means he can turn every fight into a pure skill based fight, trite but I am a fan of the tropes frankly lmao
