You can have both. The fact is that most romcom series, with all their convoluted path towards the relationship, end up giving the impression that the formed couple wouldn’t last a couple of years, let alone a married life. Think about it - most plot points in romcoms come from lack of communication, and there’s no relationship that survives that. Also, communication is not something that is simply “sorted out” - people that don’t talk to each other do so because of conflict between their personalities or personal issues. Those don’t simply go away.

But we are lucky to have series with established couples, who communicate, and have healthy relationships. Those are a joy to read on themselves.

Both kind of series are good - but it’s difficult to find one series that would be ok migrating from one kind to the next, simply because the story would lack consistency.
