That's the hook in the synopsis but the story itself has gone beyond that, and it's not necessarily wrong to. Shinobu failing doesn't mean there's no longer a point to the story, though some may feel strongly that way.

Has it? Up until a couple chapters ago thats still exactly what he was doing and where all the weight of the story was placed "is Sakura gonna fall?" Or "will Shinobu fail to intervene" the relationship between them always played second fiddle to that and its why the relationship suddenly stopped existing when the main premise was shot and when I say stopped existing I mean that literally since they are not even on bad terms, they just flat out aren't involved in each other anymore. Even were Shinobu to end up with Sakura, it would not be because steps were taken to rebuild the relationship.

Yea like I said, for it to conclude in one chapter I just can't see the two coming back together. There's no way for the two to rekindle. Though I can see them seeing and thanking each other for where they are now.

But i don't see that ending with Sakura as impossible as looks like but is hard to happen.Airi was incoherent many times in the story so she could do that ending if she want it.

If she plans to do a ending with her that is the mostly likely direction.A closed ending with them would be suprising.

For me a closed ending only happens if Shinobu get together with Fumi in the end.

It's not even silly though lol, it all of a sudden started taking itself too seriously which also makes being able to handwave from it being fiction less effective as well

Airi is trying to stir certain emotions towards the end, and the weird writing will make it feel like that. Don't latch on too hard to the loose usage of the word 'silly', call it 'stupid' if it's more fitting, in the end it's still a a piece of fiction, and while the execution makes it harder to believe, nothing's really going to change at this point.

Man, every time I think about it, I'm more sure that Shikura ending is very unrealistic, vol14 has no build-up for Shikura, how can they sell the Shikura ending if they didn't work on the build-up? I don't know how I think it's the most likely option for the ending.

Well, it'll have to start with their first meeting in months in manga time, and a proper face-to-face conversation in 100 days irl time since 122, and in a way this is a different kind of "build-up".

Honestly, I don't follow the manga, but I think it's from the recent chapter and there's a panel where a guy seems like he's going to force the fmc to kiss him, I'd expect that from Grapara or Guilty Circle, not from Dandadan hahahaha
