Rei and Kaguma chose to ride apart from Shii without her knowledge so Shii can gain confidence in her abilities on her bike. Confidence in one’s own ability to ride leads better decisions. The worst decision I ever made was to ride a bike on which I had little experience/ confidence.

I had this thought too, but I’m too tall - the handlebars hit my knees when I tried one. They’re probably best suited for rider who are 172cm (5’8”) or shorter.

That's not "lil dumb", this is beyond stupid, like many of the other life-changing decisions the characters take in this manga: the parents weren't even opposed to her travel, they just didn't want her to try it for the first time on her exam day...
