I don't think that will be the case here because this extra chapter was a doujinshi version of this manga(it does not have a magazine interference).I think something strange can happen but is more unlikely than that happening here.

Likely that was axed.I did rather the other girls than the FMC,and then the classic open ending in this kind of mangas happened.(But implied that they could be back together again)
