I hope that you are aware he did not need to do any of this. He could have build up their relationship from zero to hero. She's crippled, and he is the class rep. He could have helped her move around the school, aided her in her missed classes, went out with her in study sessions, such and such and such and such. And then, after spending some months in close proximity with each other, he could have confessed. But no. Man, dude took the whole thing as his fault, or maybe he enjoys his fear boner. That's a great point, but I think part of the problem is his complete lack of self-confidence. Forming a relationship normally would require him to believe that he's good enough to be loved.
