Or more scientifically, the endorphin rush that gamblers get during that moment. "Gambler's high" might not be 100% correct, but I think it's a succinct way to get the point across well enough.

Gambler's high is a phrase i've heard before in the UK, and it's what you described. It's why people become addicted to gambling.
