Anyways, piracy is, first of all, NOT stealing of PRODUCT. You are making a copy of the thing you are pirating, and hence, the original stays.
Piracy is still wrong, as you are STEALING SERVICE.
The creators still spend time to create things they deserve to be rewarded.
One common argument against it is that "Manga is famous in the West because of piracy," which is indeed true, but that still doesn't make it right, as you can't assume what the creator wants. Maybe they want money and not fame (some mangakas on Twitter have said that they don't like their works being pirated, but they have been clowned on when they shouldn't be, and their decision should be respected, as in the end of the day, it's their work.)
You can never justify piracy in any way.
Now I suppose you asked this question in light of the recent MangaUp uploads.
You can't complain about them LEGALLY acquiring licenses for the work.
But it's still scummy, as they are fucking cash-grab retarded company, which, FOR SOME REASON, IS SPLITTING A CHAPTER INTO SIX, USING FUCKING MTL, AND PAYWALLING THEM AS IF ANYONE WILL READ THEM, AND FOR THIS REASON ONLY, THEY WILL SOON DMCA MANGADEX TOO, I CAN CALL IT...
Anyways, they are legally safe but morally wrong; hence, until the mangakas themselves stop giving permission of their work being shamed like this, which I doubt many will, cause japanese are like, xenophobes, they mostly don't care about outside world, we can't do anything about this.
