Exactly, you've got the important part smaller. For one part, you have these new arrivals sounding like retired people to justify their tastes; on the other hand, you've got those newborns who treat each series they like as the only one in universe. Of course, if you go to anime sites you can see plenty of comments on each episode (from adapted series) how they like to complain about "those damn manga readers", even when no one is spoiling anything. Yep, they can't stand true fans.
