Spoiler: Spoilers of the immediate aftermath

Fran stumbles into the dead party. Only Solus is left alive, lightly wounded but unconscious after using a teleport item.
The two return to the surface but are attacked. Afterwards Solus keeps tripping traps and eventually Fran pretends to get injured at which point Solus attempts to kill her. Obviously this earns him the good ol' injure-heal-repeat treatment.
Solus has some suitable skills for teamkilling and that's what he's been doing. They come out of the dungeon, grab Solus' assistants and have Erza (Bardiche) and guild master interrogate. Solus and his team get more questioning in prison.

Solus was not working alone and escapes the prison.
His rescuer is the noble Seldio who harassed Fran at the gate. His aim is to gather powerful swords.
Solus ambushes Fran in the dungeon with Seldio and some goon who all have been powered up. After a hard fight the bad guys are dead and another observer captured and handed to the guild. Apparently this is a part of some larger scheme! Stay tuned for a later arc!

Thanks for the chapter! I wonder what these people get out of killing other adventures? If the adventurers have loot, that's one thing, but if they are just doing quests, I don't see a reason as to why one would kill them.

We barely even know this character. I am not invested enough to care about her death yet. And she gets killed by faceless randoms.
She has only ever interacted with our MCs twice or was it thrice? Its not enough to build any sort of meaningful relationship that isn't "OwO look how cute we are together, black cat tribe rise up".

I don't even think that what the author intended tbh, it's more like "oh shit, how's fran going to react to her death?" Sorta thing.
Up until now fran doesn't lose any of her comrade, either she able to save them or someone else stronger step in to save the day. Remember, fran was distraught for days after she failed to save lich king which is her enemy mind you just because she empathize with him as a fellow slave.
Imagine how hard this gonna hit her, the first black cat she met after being freed from slavery who shares the same goal as her. and even from the very short interaction fran clearly love her and enjoy her company
