I've been in that situation a few times before, it's definitely easy to assume the worst out of people, when in fact you're just as likely to stumble on someone who's totally easy going and cool like their new neighbor. Seeing them resolve their little argument was all sorts of sweet in any case ^_^ This manga is food for the soul as much as anything else; I'll be glad to read as much of it as the author was able to make! Thank you for the translation :)

It is a bit understandable for a gay couple to be more cautious even if Japan isn't as known for hate crimes compared to being closeted in some states (altho I would hope any bigoted neighbors who are living near you long term wouldn't outright pick fights bc they don't wanna have to deal with cops or anything but luckily this story isn't gonna get that dark), it's a shame this was cancelled bc it would've been good for it to get far enough for them to tell their families at least and work that out too but I assume Unless it's rushed they prolly won't see their relatives again
