This actually reminds me of Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomoni Season 1 Episode 4. The poison was in the teacups there too, and MC had definitely taken precautions beforehand

At this point, the situation at home is way too unstable to do anything permanent about the foreign king. Say Haruto DID capture/kill him, what is to prevent another army from coming for revenge? Who will rule the newly conquered land? It won't be his siblings as they are still suffering from the fall-out of the old royals. What mechanisms will be in place to prevent ambicious traitors from messing with the country and siding with the foreign country?so he really did just let the enemy king and army leave to plan out their next invasion...
no, leaving the invading king to go plan his next invasion is not the smart decision, he should have killed the king and the invading army, could they build a new army and invade? sure it's possible but it would come at great cost and they can't afford to lose army after army without their kingdom collapsing, if they have any brain they would make peace but as long as this guy is in charge and has his army completely unharmed he's gonna keep invadingAt this point, the situation at home is way too unstable to do anything permanent about the foreign king. Leaving the king alone for now is the wise choice as the country is still unstable. Plus the king is no threat as Haruto can EASILY dispose of him if he ever got uppity.
That king is not a moron, he only started the invasion because he had a good shot at winning (having a god backed him up). Now that his strongest card was crushed so thoroughly, he wouldn't start another without finding a better card to play. But if you removed the smart guy, there's a chance that some actual morons would seize power and try to invade again without knowing who they're up against.no, leaving the invading king to go plan his next invasion is not the smart decision, he should have killed the king and the invading army, could they build a new army and invade? sure it's possible but it would come at great cost and they can't afford to lose army after army without their kingdom collapsing, if they have any brain they would make peace but as long as this guy is in charge and has his army completely unharmed he's gonna keep invading
Considering egyptian, thai (I think), and japenese royalty (and possibliy others) all had sibling marriages I'm not so sure about that.I was sure she was going to announce Haruto as her consort, ultimately ending in him revealing they're related and her marrying her non-bio brother. Poison tropes seem tame by comparison.
you do understand what you just said right, the enemy king is smart, he won't make the same mistake twice, next time he will attack in a different way which he believes will succeed where his last attempt failed, why would you want an enemy king who we know is planning to invade again who is smart enough to learn from his mistake and this time attack in a way the OP MC can't defend against? rather an idiot march in than a smart Machiavellian pulling something MC can't defend against. That king is not a moron, he only started the invasion because he had a good shot at winning (having a god backed him up). He could just isolate it with his barriers, after allThis actually reminds me of Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomoni Season 1 Episode 4. The poison was in the teacups there too, and MC had definitely taken precautions beforehand
