Tojiko used to be a vengeful spirit, and now she's just a ghost; Mizuchi could go the same way. It's possible that as Reimu faced her ancestors failings, apologised meaningfully and treated Mizuchi as a person after defeating her that she's legitimately calming down.
All those years of anger had an outlet and she's ready to move on with her unlife.
I wonder if that means she will become a different spirit type or just an unvengeful spirit.
She was under the influence of the Miracle Mallet in DDC, along with the other youkai you fight at the start of that game. It's pretty obvious that Sekibanki is possessed here, right?
Naturally we never got more dialogue of her until just now, but TH14 Sekibanki and this chapter's Sekibanki seem like two completely different people, even if we ignore what's drawn and look at just her dialogue here.
Unless this is how ZUN always wanted her to act and never got it across in the game back then.
Fair point. It is hard to take her dialogue at face value, however her profile also said:She was under the influence of the Miracle Mallet in DDC, along with the other youkai you fight at the start of that game.
I forgot about her, it seems likely then.Tojiko used to be a vengeful spirit, and now she's just a ghost; Mizuchi could go the same way.
Nah, the whole reason Tojiko became a vengeful spirit was cuz her shikaisen was sabotaged (replaced with a perishable object) and when it succumbed to the passage of time it took her with it, iirc. What if Tojiko is a special case in that she also has the shikaisen resurrection thing going on?
So once her grudge is gone, she technically is still anchored to the world through the shikaisen? That explains why she hasn't disappeared and moved on.
