I agree your not obligated. But you are very wrong about how common it is that people stick to one site. Many use dex for update notices, and keeping track of their lists, I would say the vast majority probably in the 90% range only use dex, and most of them do not engage in comments. Rather than actively seeking out chapters they just wait on updates.
And you being so defensive forces replies to be more aggressive in response. You were not being told to drop the series, they were upset its not all here. You have put yourself in a defensive position from the start, so people have to counteract that to be able to say anything.

That said thank you for translating the chapter.
Mangadex is not a tracker site rather it's for reading but anyway that's a different topic. But rather last time when I didn't say anything a few people said that I should've at least referred them to where they can find the missing chapters and I can't really do that without addressing the whole issue. Anyway I do want more chapters to be available on Mangadex but I don't see it becoming a platform bigger groups like Asura, Flame, etc would go out of their way to post on. (I know Flame used to upload on MD but nowadays they don't).

To MD readers, you really ought to have one or two alternative sites besides MD (not 10,000 sites, as someone mentioned above), because MD is no longer the primary choice for some scanlation groups when uploading their works. MD is now slower to update than aggregator sites.

It is good to say they exist as many wont know the manga was getting updated, I use other sites as well, but I read to many to check on ones that go quite, I eventually check on them but often they will have to be silent for months as they could just be between releasing volumes, I am more warning that the wording and tone of that message invites backlash.
A simple the other chapters exist on other sites, matter of fact with no defensiveness will be far more effective at shutting down backlash.

I'm just here to say that you would be a whole hell of a lot cooler if you just sniped all the chapters from M@d@r@ Scans because fuck those guys.

I have no horse in this race, do not react to my post with dumb shit, I'm just a passing comment.

What the group and poster said in the first post was quite valid, yes, but the way they said that, god... You couldn't sound more condescending if you tried. Violence for the sake of violence doesn't make you sound cool, it makes you sound like a prick.

Again, just an observation, I'm not criticising anyone, good work to the scan team.

Before I get any whining replies for the missing chapters between 76 and 80.2 you can find them on other aggregator sites such as mangafire. I upload whatever we translate as a group so I don't think I should be required to pick up the slack behind just because some readers don't want to go read on another site and instead of catching up to the paywalled chapters waste time on chapters that you can already find for free somewhere else.
Dude, it doesn't change the workload at all to translate the "missing" chapters. Because whether it's one chapter or a hundred, you still do it at your own pace.

And when are you people gonna learn that we don't give a flying fuck about how much "backlog" there is? Do you see anyone giving Ron a hard time over Risou no Himo Seikatsu? Hell no, we're happy with him taking his time to make sure that title gets a good translation.

Lastly, it's not so much that we hate going to other websites to read, but rather that it's annoying to do so. It's like when you go to buy something online and you're trying to find a good deal - it gets pretty tedious having to sift through everything like Amazon, FB market place, eBay, Walmart, etc. And don't try to tell me it isn't the same because we have to pick and choose which aggregator to go with (if there even is a choice at all), weighing things like just how ad-infested it is, support for reading preferences like single page, double page, and long strip, and how prone their servers and databases are to crashing. (Granted, these days can have some very unusual reasons for loss of service. Fuck you very much, Putin, for treating datacenters as military targets.)

Yeah this, one thing I find shocking is how few sites let you set the size of the images. Yes you can enlarge the whole page, but that messes with how much you have to scroll to move it.

Way to be needlessly condescending ("whining replies") even as you claim to be thankful for people reading. You're obviously under no obligation to post anything at all, but that's no reason to have such a nasty, insulting attitude about it. Damn.

I agree with this.

You could've just simply said "the other chapters already translated by other group and available in other aggregator sites, and I won't be doing retranslation" and be done with it, more than that is worsening your position.

While frustrating a few chapters missing here, no translator doing it for free is responsible to translate anything they don't choose to do.. hell, if someone wanted to translate a random ass middle of the story chapter of a series just cause hey loved it so, that is their choice.

MD should notify that a newly uploaded chapter skipped chapters from the last upload when you click on a chapter via the update page or the main manga page. They do this if you click from the previously uploaded chapter, but not if you click directly on the chapter. This way people who only read MD can get a notification and avoid reading the new chapter, while the rest of us who read at other aggregation sites can enjoy the new chapter here, so everyone is happy.

I think a big disconnect is that a lot of people here still think MD is still like it was in the past - it isn't, it's a shell of its former self, and a ton of manga is no longer being uploaded here since the purge. There are a lot of manga here with skipped chapters (when a scanlation team decides to continue a dropped manga but doesn't want to translate all the previous chapters that some paywall group already did, and these chapters have already been collected by all the manganoun sites) and this problem will only get worse. A lot of you will complain, but the scanlation scene has died a lot since the glory days, so I'm greatful whenever any group is willing to take up a dropped series.

They used to do this in the old mangadex when they still track last read separately by chapter number, so you can even enter the number manually if you have read it somewhere else. I don't know why they don't carry over that feature.

Comix was the new best aggregator site, unfortunately nice thing doesn't last long.
