ah finally reaching the point where the story was so stupid that I wiped the entirety of post humanoid evolution from my mind
Planet is being destroyed from the inside out due to abuse of its life sustaining energy mostly dickhead elves
throw in a patch job of a fix that is the system because why should you be able to remove the problem, wheres the fun in that
patch job still gets abused and even more
make it taboo to know whats really going yet you still expect the people to fix it
elves still doing their thing because its forbidden to just nuke them off the face of the world
gets so bad the goddess decides to be the battery to keep the world going
fuck this "world building" is shit and pissed me off the more the real workings got revealed as I read
nothing in that world should be allowed continued existence the elves, the demons, the monsters, the human, the gods and not the planet not a fucking thing just delete it all
That's basically literally Shiro's thought process when she got Taboo maxed out and got the context of everything. It's why she was rushing for Godhood so she had a chance to escape before the world fell apart and is just generally dismissive about all lives on the planet besides Elf loli sensei and Grandma Demon King.

Elf-sensei obviously wants to stay involved to protect all of her students, and the Demon Lord has her own reason to very stubbornly stay involved that I'm not going to spoil. So Kumo in turn has to humor those attachments if she wants to protect those two.

I recently watched the anime which has more faithful character designs to the original LN, and wow, Guliguli is just a pretty boy with a fully visible face in scaley dragon armour. I wonder why this artist decided to make him Batman.

The world being an absolute hell hole is fully intentional and the interplay of characters that is the reason it became like this is just phenomenal in my opinion.
Potimas is an asshole that only cares for achieving his own goals and would literally destroy the world to do so.
The government naively driving away the ones who could get rid of people like Potimas and then later doing literally anything they can to ensure the continued existence of humanity.
The angel being too kind for her own good and willing to sacrifice herself.
Guli not wanting to let the angel sacrifice herself.
D "fixing" the world in the worst way possible, as would be expected of an evil god.

I just love how true to their character all of them are. They all have their own goals and ideals and acted according to them, I really don't think any other outcome was possible.
Almost everyone was partially responsible for the how it ended up this way, but the only two people you can really blame are the person who was actively trying to kill the planet and the person who made sure Potimas would continue to do so.

But yeah I agree that almost nothing on the planet should continue to exist, but some things really aren't responsible. The monsters were only created after everything got so bad and quite a few are related to or were made in the image of Potimas' victims. The planet's only responsible because it didn't defend itself. Potimas' last surviving victim is doing some pretty fucked up things, but was also absolutely not responsible for how the world ended up this messed up. And the people from Earth never should have been caught up in any of this.

Tell me what the fuck is the end goal of all these fucks and what happens because this will probable be the last Ill read this series
I didnt start reading this to end up with a glorified babysitter of an mc to a cast that encompasses the entire world each fucking up worse than the last
I used to have lingering attachments to this series since I started reading the wn around when it was first being translated up until it started getting mess with different groups doing different styes of chapters and ended up confusing me in the midst of all the other stuff I was reading, thought the manga would be a good way to keep up and refresh the series in my head as it released but this is more frustrating, annoying and at this point far from what I care for when I dont find a single character likeable anymore and that list was very short to begin with

Potimas: Become a god/leave the planet.
Shiro: Become independent of D and ensure the safety of the Demon Lord, of the homeroom teacher, to some extent the safety of the vampire and oni and to an even lesser extent the safety of the souls in this world.
Demon Lord: Save the live of the Goddess (the planet's angel, a defensive system that is supposed to protect planets from the interference of gods from other worlds) who basically acted as her mother, restore the planet and kill Potimas (her biological father and the person who turned her into a spider creature, as well as the person responsible for the draining of the MA energy and humans driving the dragons into leaving the planet).
Guliguli: The last dragon on the planet. He is in love with the Goddess, and while he would love to save her, he sees it as more important to keep her will intact.
The Pope: As the president under whom MA energy was introduced and exploited and under whom the dragons were driven off of the planet, he wants to kill Potimas and, while he regrets how much they hurt the Goddess and the planet, he prioritizes the continued existence of humans.
The Goddess: Wants to protect the life on the planet, which she sees as her children.
The System: Make everyone miserable, assist in creating new gods, trap the souls on the planet, restore the planet, change the laws of physics and chemistry to the point of basically invalidating science, make it impossible for Potimas to become a god and lastly make it impossible for Potimas to leave the planet.
D: Be an asshole, like it is proper of an evil god, run away from responsibility and have Shiro as a pet.

This results in a war, after Potimas was finally killed, where both sides try to reach the Goddess, and with that the central control of the System, first. If Shiro and the Demon King's side reaches there first, the system will be destroyed, resulting in everyone on the planet (other than the ones from Earth, the Demon King and newborns without skills) dying and their souls being used to safe the Goddess and the planet. If the side of the Pope and humanity reaches there first, the Goddess's soul will be used to restore the planet and the people won't die. Guliguli and the dragon category monsters that are his underlings try to stop Shiro and the Demon King's side in order to protect the life on the planet. The Hero's party, a group of like four of the students, are on the side of humanity, the other students and the teacher are on the Demon King's side.
In the end Shiro finds a third solution that saves only the souls of everyone but results in her becoming D's pet.
Though I may be wrong about a couple of details, it has been a couple of years since I last read it.

I actually liked how everything was presented and linked. Every character is reasonably defined, has their clear goals and is acting towards them. Maybe except for Potimas, every character is acting within the boundaries of a flawed person trying their best (Potimas is a bit too perfect of an "evil guy")
And there are some minor details missed by the previous explanation:
D doesn't do anything to prevent Potimas from becoming a god or leaving the planet. She knows he just can't do it. It's her way of punishing him: letting him waste centuries trying to achieve the impossible. Later on, we do see how this has actually affected him, he is desperate, he is going insane.
The Goddess acts on instinct only, she is pretty much an automaton built to serve a purpose. She cannot disobey her directives. She was not supposed to be there at all, as her "kind" leave the planet once their goals are achieved. She was left behind by mistake and her last directive was to protect the people of the planet.

D has to be the least understood character in the whole thing. She is technically an "evil god", but first and foremost she is an "administrator". Her job is to make sure worlds operate as they should, and outside elements don't interfere with them. This world SHOULD be destroyed. What led to it's destruction was not outside interference. This is one of the reasons why she hides from other administrators, she is actually going against her duty by helping. The "System" she creates is both a mixture of her desire for entretainment (as it creates a lot of drama, and it has a bunch of backdoors so that even more drama can be created) and the need for a system that can repair the world on it's own (which the system is technically capable of doing. The fact that it fails do so in the end is because of the actions of the inhabitants of the world).

What I really disliked was the ending. The ending was so anticlimatic. It's pretty much saying that everything that everyone has done so far doesn't mean anything, that it never meant anything and that the only solution from the very beginning was to do nothing. It's so fucking dumb.

Wow, I really forgot quite a bit.
First: I know that the System doesn't stop Potimas from becoming a god the way most gods become gods, but wasn't it the case that Potimas isn't able to use the System path to becoming a god, the one that Shiro used? Or was that just because he was incapable of becoming a god in general?
Second: Didn't the Goddess gain emotions and her own desires through interacting with Guliguli and the kids? I was pretty sure that the reason why Guliguli protects the people of the planet is because the Goddess genuinely wanted to protect the people out of her own volition, not just because her directive told her to. Or am I recalling something wrong?

reads this chapter and also the ending spoilers in the comments

...

What even is this story?

There isn't even enough yuri-ing throughout this whole thing to make Shiro becoming D's pet like... fun... it's just so hollow, so bland... so empty of narrative and emotion and stakes... like... it's the essence of "and then this happened and then this happened and then this happened and then this happened"... works well for the beginning of the manga/work, when it's p one track "a smol spider gotta survive somehow", but the snowballing story snowballed and then hard swerved into idk the mfing Biographies of Barenziah levels of exhausting drivel...

Shiro becoming D's pet is neither an inuendo, nor is it a metaphor. D and Shiro are not in an equal relationship, they aren't even in a master-servant relationship, it's a literal pet owner and pet relationship. Shiro is literally treated as pet spider by D. That's possible, because Shiro, while still a god, ends up literally the size of and looking like an actual house spider.

Potimas' soul is just unable to become a god. He lacks the capacity and cannot increase it anymore. Shiro can do it partially because she has absorbed part of an artificial "soul" D stuck to her to try to fool the other administratiors and the teacher about Hiiro being reincarnated with the rest. There is no path within the system to become a god, when she absorbs that and ascends, she's kicked out of the system.
And the Goddess did gain emotions over time, yes, but you can't call that her gaining her own desires. All along she was acting on her directive to protect the people, that's why she so eagerly sacrificed herself, she didn't care about how much that would hurt Guluguli or the kids.
At least that's how I remember those parts.
