What is the architectural purpose of having a single isolated square room with only a couch?

Architecturally speaking, its just another useable space without plumbing requirements. It could become whatever is needed of it. An office, a second dining room, another bedroom, a storage room, etc... its there for whatever is needed. In this specific case, the main reason for the room, is more or less for the adjacent room's benefit. Being able to close it up not only reduces cleaning requirements, but can also make the house feel more cozy and warm. Having it wide open can often make the room feel too big, especially if only 2-3, fairly clean people are normally using it. Its just too much extra space. But having it available for use during a large party is very handy. Plus, its always there incase a need ever comes for a larger, more open concept style room.

The furniture itself is not usually taken fully into consideration (they may show placeholder furniture on plans, just to place the rest of the room into some context). Most people have their own ideas about what goes where. So unless it is "semi-permanent" features, like closets, cabinets with countertops, plumbing fixtures like sinks and toilets, and electrical outlet locations for things like a laundry machines or a generator location, furniture placement is more or less left upto the tenet's discretion.

Liz, while I don't believe its ever been confirmed one way or the other, has shown at least to be able to feel some attraction towards aother woman before (Eleanor, although I personally believe that was less as a romantic partnership interest, and more like a younger sister to their older sister kind of romantic interest). I wouldn't go as far as to say she is gay because of just that though.

Truth be told by default I basically never expect any yuri from isekai with male protagonists, we all know how they always go :V

But talking about the romance in this series is kinda funny cause so far there's like literally zero chemistry between Miyabi and Liz, they act like best friends or sibilings, as a matter of fact I feel Miyabi has way more romantic scenes with the maid than anyone else lol

Unfortunately I know better, I really don't see it going any way except Miyabi x Liz, honestly? Them staying friends / siblings / family by itself would already be pretty peak due to the fact that's so fucking rare with isekais, Liz also being a lesbian would simply be an even higher peak

Now I'm reminded of this manga, dude is a mage who decided to become an adventurer, his party end up being 3 girls (cause of course), the manga has like literally zero chemistry between them, they literally act as nothing but friends or maybe siblings, the funny thing is that apparently in the light novel the girls do slowly fall for him, with one scene at later volumes them talking on how they wouldn't mind all becoming his mistress in part so they can all stay together, if you read only the manga you would never get those vibes at all lol, as a matter of fact the manga exclusively gives romantic scenes with his childhood friend who apparently is the main love interest in the novel too

So I can't help but wonder if Miyabi and Liz romance is just really subtle and slowburn or if it's the manga toning it down like the above

Anyway, guess I gotta reread the series just to look for all Eleanor scenes and ship her with Liz

I mean, she's a preteen at least, no chance she's a fully adult, and it's been at least a whole year. She has to grow up eventually.

These two better watch out, 'common law marriage' laws might result in them becoming married by accident due to living together. It really is quite unusual for two friends to own a house together, presumably many people who know them just assume they are lovers with this.

I mean, it's them, And Mel. And he isn't enough of a noble in a fantasy story to be allowed a harem, or multiple spouses. So I wouldn't worry too much about the marriage part.

It's a Room. It could be a guest room, with a sofa bed. It could be a Den. It could be a more generic reading room. And it's Miyabi, it just has a couch by default, so it's not an empty room. He could furnish it instantly. And as adventurers, a simple room to toss equipment after coming home, would be really useful. Very rarely do homeowners complain of having too much room.

Although I think you may have missed it - in one of the chapters where they were talking about MC and the Princess, those three loons were joking about if he married the Princess, then they could stick around as his legal mistresses. They had a good laugh about it, but there was a subtle subtext there that their joke may not be too far off the mark. Because to them, the funny-ha-ha part was the idea of them retiring to be a bunch of pampered ladies, doing lady-like things like tea parties and such. All kinda like, "Pfffft! Get outta town! There's no way we'd ever become like that!"
