I'm not sure I'd read too much into that, just because I'm not sure how many authors are sufficiently rigorous to think carefully about the details of what it would actually involve for a single mother who's also the sole proprietor of a small business to travel to the other side of the country to talk to someone face to face for a few minutes and then leave. I was just being somewhat flippant.

I do really like her as a character, though, and of all the women we've seen in this series, she might actually be the best match for him. But the core of the story is the sharehouse, and I don't really see that as likely to change.

She used Hiromi one-sidedly for that whole arc with her mother. Hiromi even defended Anju, yelling at her mom on her behalf, which ultimately led them to reconcile. He did all of that, plus every other kindness he shared with Anju.

And what did Anju do to repay Hiromi for all that? She went behind Hiromi’s back and interfered in his relationship with Nonoka. Her words led directly to the choice Nonoka made to take her shit-stain ex back and dump Hiromi.

Anju did that because she was bitter, jealous, and selfish. It was an unmitigated betrayal of Hiromi and she’s so shallow that she doesn’t even think she did something wrong.

All of the women in the share house know what Anju did, so it’s only a matter of time before it gets revealed. I really hope Tsubasa is going to rat Anju out in this visit.
