I did not care for this arc. The characters kept bringing up points that contradicted each other then yuzan won for what felt like a really unearned and arbitrary reason. It felt like the author didn't know what point he was trying to make and decided to beat down yamaoka and crew for no reason.
What a variety of pre-columbian exchange dishes! The emphasis on vegetables and seafood is something shared between old Italian and Japanese cuisines, I hope that it goes well for them. The beef probably feels like as much a luxury in this meal as it would in the past they're taking the dishes...
Crazy return! Six whole years!! Thank you for sharing this piece of manga history. And it's such a professional job I thought they were rips from an official translation where the rights have been lost
What a refreshing chapter. The art feels nicer, the mood is lighter, it feels like some motion is happening. I love historical cooking, this is going to be fun.
It's honestly really annoying, like in the last chapter she correctly identified every single ingredient yet no other characters pointed it out. The author reminds the viewer that Kurita's sense of taste is as refined as Yamaoka's yet in her own world this is hardly ever acknowledged...
This might be the best chapter of the series so far. Kurita is finally taking an active role, stepping into the lion's den to support her friends instead of just standing around worrying like she normally does. And Kaibara's explanation of the tea is clearly a parallel to Kurita and Yamaoka's...
