@Blacktart I think that's a separate issue. Profiteering was discuss in site update post. This ownership issue is more likely to due to mass DMCA take down. For legal reason, MangaDex doesn't want to take ownership of stuff that is uploaded anymore. That's why the ownership was to be passed on...
