This story was published a volume at time, dou to the anime ova production I have presumed the author never had time for more volumes or he just quit on the series.

Unfortunately 5th volume was never published. So this is the end.

I think the truth of the matter is shown in a later chapter, though what already is stated would be against Junpei being the Kichiza. The house has the Abashiri family name on it quite oddly.

I'm not the one doing this, but I have firm belief Takeru will do the final arc as well just to have it in best quality, even if it reads okay.

It isn't some little kids' manga, it's targeted for teens. If you like slice of life with some supernatural ESP, then this is a fine manga. The creator is the same as Doraemon, so you can expect a similar style.
