Common decency is good. You can praise people for doing the right choice, you should actually. Only punishing evil and not rewarding good is how you get people who just want not to be caught, rather than people who actively pursue good. Protestant ethics are not a good outlook.

Pet peeve of mine with Japanese translations : while the Japanese use the third person to adress each other in a less direct way, this is not the case in english. You should translate as "do you have a boyfriend", not "does [name] have a boyfriend".
