Yes and no. Retellings of fairy tales quite frequently change cast by omitting, combining, or making up new characters.

Nintendo or whatever the new popular gacha is. Every single time I find an artist drawing fan art of some niche game I like or interesting OCs, suddenly it's all been replaced with Genshin, Uma Musume, ZZZ, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, and Pokemon after I follow them. Drives me nuts.
