As I recall, one of Miko's ambitions is to be made leader of the Human Village- a position that does not currently exist, and which all of the youkai factions would take umbrage at. Since part of a youkai's existence is tied to its awareness of its own existence, spiritual possession is far more...
Interesting. In revisiting all of Reimu's past Incident Resolutions to possess the guilty parties, Mizuchi went straight from Eientei to Moriya Shrine. She skipped the Endless Gatherings of Sakura-Viewing Parties; I'd missed that detail.
That is to say, she deliberately chose not to possess...
My bet is on Marisa being the one talking to Reimu through the yin-yang orb. My only evidence for this is that Marisa once said "It ain't danmaku if it ain't flashy! (emphasis mine)
I like to think that the reason Mizuchi is acting confused is because she didn't expect a youkai to have such a thorough understanding of human nature.
I may be mistaken, but I think the 'Red Ape' of the title is Akazaru Shochu, a type of alcohol made from a sweet potato. Clocking in at 25% alcohol by volume, it's fairly strong stuff for casual drinking.
Hmm. The ability to erase memories? At the same time, while a youjuu might have the energy to attack postmortem, I'm not sure it was really the demon boar that attacked Reimu. Given the hat Miyoi wears, I'm put in mind of Doremy. Is Miyoi some sort of Freddy Krueger-style Baku?
EDIT: Upon...
My biggest disappointment(currently): I can't read Teito Monogatari on this site. I feel that it might explain some of the importance that oni hold in Gensokyo, as well as give better insight into why vengeful spirits are so feared by youkai.
What if Reimu loses?
Of course, that outcome is absurd. If she lost here, she'd be dead, and there wouldn't be a Touhou Project anymore.
But...supposing she did?
Her soul would be trapped in Hell, slowly transforming into some type of vengeful spirit.
There has long been fan speculation...
