I feel like it's mainly the pacing/flow. Before serialization, it could be whatever they felt like. With serialization, they need to meet page numbers and whatnot.

If her name is really written as something like ラビア (Ra-bi-a), your thoughts aren't entirely off the mark. Either the author doesn't know anatomy and didn't plug it into Google or they knew.
