While you're right, this is also kind of negated with the recent revelation that it's Edwin who has God's Tongue and Ludwig Sr. had a normal palate. He still pushed himself to achieve something nearly impossible, though.
I didn't realize Lushia/Rushia was Russia until this most recent translation tbh LOL. I kept remembering it as "Lupsia"/"Rupsia" from the older translations.
Wondering if Zezeman, because he's from the south of the Empire, has this world's equivalent of Moroccan ancestry in him. :thonk: Or maybe Algeria or Tunisia? Would love to see some of their cuisine as we did in Gen with lablabi, which is from Tunisia.
Small correction, though I do agree with your overall examination of the time period:
In chapter 32, "Raw Oyster Ban," Bertholdt reveals there is a squadron who use guns. They're akin to muskets as far as we can tell by the description—oysters are called "gun shellfish" by everyone, even...
He did reach the Cardinal indeed! But both Ingrid and Rodrigo mention he should be high up in the ranks, so it's rather mysterious as to why he's a simple deacon.
But, the simplest answer may be the correct one!! Edwin wanted to indulge once he felt fulfilled and now he is who he is!
You're right on that, actually. Edwin has been mentioned to always be sneaking off, slacking on his duties, etc. Guess something happened that turned him away from the devout priest we see here—maybe Ingrid's self-exile?
Yeah, in earlier chapters. But we no longer had a focus on guards, now that Nikolaus and Hans have gone to other jobs and Bertholdt's focus has been Helminia and the twins.
They do usually have a celebration, which is interesting that they don't want one. And are they really going to get married that fast? No engagement period? Interesting 🤔
Funny how Gernot is a greedy tax collector here, but in future chapters he's a respectable, upright (and uptight) man. Guess the author decided against making him a villain lol
This is 5 years super late, but my parents used to own a grocery store with a bakery. The bakers didn't make the ring nor did they use batter in a mold. They had a donut cutter that did indeed leave a donut hole behind :) Like the one below.
