Mc is all like "I still haven't resolved our misunderstandings". He can't let her die yet until the girl knows how op God man he is to stroke his own ego.
You forget about this manga because of it's slow release and come back to it almost half a decade later only to find out the raws are still at chapters 30-40 and haven't gotten anywhere near the actual main plot nor fully introduced all the main characters yet.
It feels strange how they don't look like they have grown physically since their first year. I guess the previous third year regulars already looked as mature as they did in their first year. At minimum they already reached their third year physical form in their 2nd year looking at flashbacks.
I guess they have to force some drama in some how instead of mc roflstomping bad guy immediately. He will just roflstomp him after faking being roflstomped due to his secretly sadistic personality.
If becoming a star player was such a bad thing then you may as well never become a pro player because there it's all about how much money the team makes off of you.
What that woman basically wants is for Goro to go die in some no name school outside of her view where he will obviously carry hard instead of stay in Kaido and have an easy path to victory.
When every player is top class in Kaido, there's not going to be much of a chance for Goro to pitch...
If a weak old man can survive being pancaked against a solid wall so hard he craters the solid wall of a scientifically reinforced laboratory and other crushing blows, the mc is fine.
