Well, after skimming through Volume 1 and taking notes on the language, I can at least say that the text on the left side of the volume cover says "oupu jaa sui gomaei" (or "oop jah swi gomaeh" as I'd personally rather romanize it for a couple of reasons), meaning "I don't understand anything"...
I should probably say that "divergent" was the result of some hemming and hawing over how exactly to translate the loanword "my pace" here. In this context, she's using it as a nice term for, basically, "socially unaware" or "slow". We could've gone with "offbeat" or "different" or something but...
Oh, I wasn't expecting the series to end. In hindsight I should've guessed, I felt like that's actually a really good ending for it.

Well, since you mentioned crossbar I's, I highly appreciate it, but CC Shout Out does have them. I dunno if you have an old version of it or ligatures disabled or what, but I'm not seeing them where I should.
Oh dangit I forgot to point out that the last line of this chapter "the more choices you can make, the better" was meant to be in contrast to this one, from the beginning of chapter 1.
